When in Portland, Maine a good start to the day would be breakfast at the Miss Portland Diner. The diner is an original design dating back to the 1950′s. It had closed for a couple of years when it reopened a block and across the street from it’s original location.

The original diner maintained it’s original charm with the stainless steel and wooden booths and counter seats. It offers tradition comfort food with breakfast being sold all day. My favorite is the homemade corn beef hash. Last time I had the corn beef Bennedict. It was delicious from to hash to the hollandaise sauce
the tastes were perfect.

  1. This is one of the prettiest diners I’ve seen, truth is it’s the only one as we don’t have this type of thing where I live., wish we did, give McDonalds a run for their money.

  2. Love the retro styling and the Swedish colors–appropriate against the snow.

  3. Great photo with exciting colors. Sure looks like a place I would want to go to.

  4. What a breath taking image!

  5. Love this retro diner. Great color pop against the snow.

  6. Great photo of a wonderful looking diner. I’d go for some corned beef hash now but will make corned beef tomorrow for that traditional irish dinner. Love comfort food for breakfast.

    • Thank you for the kind words. My Irish son-in-law introduced me to Irish bacon which is the only thing I use now for new England boiled dinner. If you are not familiar it is made from pork loin which makes it leaner. I usually serve it with a mustard sauce.

  7. I love these old diners. I haven’t been to Miss Portland but I’ve been to the Brunswick diner several times. This is a great picture, Bob.
