Jamie has been homeless for 21 years. He served as a marine in the Gulf War in 1991. He was asked to leave the marines with a dishonorable discharge. I asked him what he had done to deserve the dishonorable discharge he replied “that’s a long story”. Jamie is what we called a the old days a hobo. He doesn’t live in shelters he lives on the streets panhandling and at night he and a few others camp at the Hobo Jungle. Jamie said he stays in Portland all years. I had some idea where he stays. I have seen evidence of others encampments like his around the area.
