Today we went to the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens in Boothbay, Maine. I think it was about 10 years ago that we went when it first opened. I was what you expect from a very new garden. It was very sparse with a lot of bare areas. The fall flowers hadn’t even begun to bloom.
But there was promise. Now almost 10 years later it is world-class garden. It is educational. There are name tags spread throughout the are identifying all of the different plants. There were flowers and plants of all types. The colors were ablaze wherever you looked. There were ponds with lilies in bloom with dragonflies and very large bull frogs competing for the insect food. The paths were smooth and very handicap accessible. There were good size crowds but there areas available where you could be by yourself and just meditate. If you like to get out in nature I highly recommend putting it on your list.
