Androscoggin River

This beautiful spot is the Androscoggin River which runs between The cities of Auburn and Lewiston Maine.  It is still used to generate hydro power and once was the site of a lot of mills and tanneries which serviced the shoe industry.  The process of refurbishing a lot of the old mill property is still going on.  Most notable is the old Bates Mill complex which has provided space for numerous and varied businesses.

  1. Have to agree with you on the beauty of this scenic spot, looks like a great place to explore, though rock hopping was never one of my strengths.

  2. Would love to see this firsthand and hear the running water…someday….hopefully before I’m too unsteady on my feet to tackle the uneven ground!
