I love Greek food and if you love Greek food then come with me to Emilitsa  while I tempt you with a great Greek meal.  First we started with tzatzik, a combination of cucumber, dill and Greek yogurt.  Next was  kefalograviera meh syka saganak a pan fried cheese with with baby Turkish balsamic peppered figs.

Now for the main course.  The previous dishes I grabbed off the on-line menu.  some of the dishes that we had changed so I will just try to describe what we had from memory.  My wife had chicken she described the flavors as intense and beautiful,  My daughter had the grilled lamb which I know from tasting it was some of the best lamb I have ever had. Grilled Lamb It was done to perfection and was so tender.  Her friend had halibut again perfectly prepared.  For me I chose the pan seared rabbit.  Trust me when I tell you it didn’t taste like chicken.  It was stuffed with fennel and other herbs with a taste that was right of heaven.

The desert menu gave a varied selection and the wine list was extensive.  We picked out a couple of good whites to complete the meal and I not to offend our hosts finished my meal with a glass of ouzo.  The ambiance was pleasant.  The wait staff was attentive but not overbearing.  Our host John Rigas made us feel at home and I can’t wait to go back.

Emilitsa is is located at 547 Congress Street in Portland, Maine (207) 221-0245.

Peter LeeThe other day I was calling on one of my customers, Peter Lee.  Peter is an attorney and one of my yellow pages advertisers.  Peter specializes in trusts and wills and occupies a small office on the second floor of what was once an old house on Main St in Yarmouth.  He runs the practice by himself and over the four years I have called on him which is once a year I have come to enjoy our brief visits.  Peter is an unassuming  and unpretentious person who fits just right in his small office.

So I usually spend a little time and we talk about our lives and what is going on in his.  Without going into his personal life I have come to know Peter and a kind and gentle man.  In Yiddish he would be know as a real mensch.  Anyway two years ago he talked about a dream and some other people had of providing musical instruments to needy children who showed a desire to learn to play.  These instruments would be provided free of charge.  When I walked into to his office  yesterday Peter was on his way to fulfilling his dream.  Wherever I looked there were instruments everywhere in old case ready to be delivered.

The short of the story is that The Instrument Exchange was born.  I urge you to visit their web site and if you have any old instrument gathering dust give Peter a call.

If you like really great tome lapse photography and photojournalism.  Then you have got to check out the work of Drew Geraci.  This piece was shot at an asylum built in the 20′s.  It is a very provocative look at a part of our past.  For more of Drew’s work go to www.vimeo.com

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA As you can see this was taken in 2008. I was at a large farmers market in Montreal where they displayed some of the best quality vegetable I have ever seen. I found this in the archives while playing around with Adobe Lightroom and it’s publishing capabilities. I am still trying to find my way around it.  One thing I found is that it allows me to publish to the Social Media sites automatically.  With SmugMug I can update a gallery and it automatically updates my WordPress Galleries.  Also if I delete in SmugMug it does the same in WordPress.
